* Nairn Horse Pasture Trail - Approximately two miles - This trail is an easy to moderate hike. Although the trail starts out at a climb, the climb soon shallows out and opens into the upper pasture with breathtaking views of the western mountains and eastern highlands. The top of the trail is approximately 300 feet above the Casa. The trail is mowed (in most areas) and marked with various colored flags.
* Please note hikers may not go outside of the Gavilan property (solid purple line on the map). Failure to follow these rules may result in arrest and prosecution by Philmont Scout Ranch for trespassing.
* Enjoy the wildlife but please don’t bring any of it back to the Casa.
* Water and long pants are recommended. The weather can change quickly so be a good scout and “Be Prepared”.
* Remember that the altitude is 7,000 feet above sea level. Take the uphill sections slowly and stop often to enjoy the view.
